Booking and joining a tour
How far in advance should I make a booking?
We recommend booking as soon as you know you are travelling, and have decided on which tour(s) you would like to go on. As Portugal is currently a popular destination, a lot of days get booked in advance, so if you leave it for too close to the date, you may have trouble finding an open day. Also, some of our tours can be quite popular so it’s best to secure your spot as soon as possible.
What are the recommended ages for your tours?
Our tours are designed to accommodate all ages and we do have participants from just a few months old to senior ages. As our tours are for individual groups only, you always decide whether you want or not to perform any activity and we will adapt accordingly. But also most of our tours are designed to be of a low to moderate difficulty, so most participants will not have any trouble with them, or may have only with one location or attraction to which we can adapt. If you have any special restrictions contact us and we will design a specific itinerary that takes your limitations into account.

Are there discounts for groups or special professionals?

If you are planning to book more than one day and don’t see the program you want in the available products please contact us so we can develop your personalized itinerary
Do I need to speak English in order to book one of your tours?
Our guides speak 4 languages, English, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese. We have a number of nationalities on tour and our guides are used to tour members not being 100% fluent in English.
I’m travelling on my own, can I join one of your tours?
To maximize the experience and the knowledge you can get out of our tours, we offer private group tours only. So if you want to book a tour with us and it’s just you, it will be just you on the tour.
There is a group of us who want to join a tour, is that OK?
We offer private group tours only. When you book with a group, only members of your group join the tour.
What are the group sizes you accomodate?
Our groups are divided in 2 tiers. One up to 3 people, using a Mercedes E class sedan, and then up to 7 people using a Mercedes V class minivan. The maximum number of people that you can book directly is 7 people. For other group sizes please contact us so we can arrange a solution for your larger group.
Before and after your tour
What clothing and footwear should I bring for my tour?
Portugal has a mild to warm climate, even off the summer months. So if you are travelling in the Spring, Summer or Autumn, be sure to bring comfortable clothing.
We always recommend that people use layered clothing because due to the locations to visit, the weather can vary.
Always bring comfortable shoes to deal with the old cobblestone streets that are beautiful, but may hurt your feet after a few hours/days.
What about children? Do you offer child seats?
Children must always travel with an adult. We offer child seats (3 yrs old or above) on request and at no extra cost if advised at time of booking. If your child is under 3 and it still travels in a baby carrier, you can simply bring your own, for the other cases please contact us so we can determine how can we accomodate your toddler.
How do I get to the airport once the tour ends?
If you schedule a tour with us and need to get to the airport or a cruise ship at the end of the tour, we can drop you off there. Also if you arrive and want to start right away with your tour, or just have a short layover, we can also pick you up from the airport, train station or cruise terminal. If you need to get to the airport/train/cruise terminal on a different day just check out our Transfers page or contact us so we can arrange it for you.
Can you pick passengers at the Cruise Terminal or the Airport?
Of course. We can pick people up on every location within the city of Lisbon, which includes Airport, Train Stations and Cruise Ship Terminal. Just don’t forget to advise us of your Flight or Ship time and if you need to get back, what is your time limit for checking in or embarking so we can plan everything accordingly.
Food, drink & meals
I have special dietary requirements. What do I do?
Please advise us of any specific dietary requirements or any other special needs at time of booking.
Do you cater for vegans and vegetarians?
Of course. We will always present you with some alternatives if you have dietary restrictions or need some specific type of diet. It’s always best to advise us at the time of booking so we can pass the information accordingly and be prepared.
How do you accommodate food allergies and other dietary requirements?
Naturally that it always depends on the severity or the extension of the allergies, but there are always options and so far nobody went back hungry :).
Our gastronomy is very comprehensive and there will be always options for conditions like gluten or lactose intolerance, or restrictions for different reasons like pork or beef, or meat altogether, for example.
What we do ask is that you warn us at the time of booking and we will adapt accordingly if needed.
Paying for your tour
How do I pay for a tour?
You can pay for the tour through our site and booking system. We work with the worldwide electronic payment provider Stripe to provide acceptance for all major credit card brands in complete security.
What to expect on a tour
What is the policy on tipping?
Tipping is not mandatory in Portugal, however it’s much appreciated. If you feel you have received excellent service and would like to show your gratitude a tip will be accepted by your guide who will be very grateful.
There are no set amounts or guidelines on tipping in Portugal, so whatever you feel comfortable with will be just fine.
What kind of wi-fi / internet access is offered?
We have mobile routers on all our vehicles that provide 4G internet access for up to 8 devices. Naturally that the focus of your day will be outside your phone, but if there is anything you need to see or check you will always have that possibility while on board.
What level of physical activity is demanded on your tours?
Our tours are designed to be of light to moderate activity, except when the monuments or attractions are more demanding.
But usually our tours are mostly made by car with some short walks to visit a couple of attractions or landmarks.
Nevertheless, all the activities are explained on the tour pages and on the tour day and if anything needs to be adapted, or if one person prefers to skip any location we adapt and there are always alternatives.
What happens if there is bad weather on the tour?
We have flexibility with the tours and a great part of the tours is normally made by car. Our guides will make stops along the way at places of interest that aren’t weather dependent such as wineries or monuments, so you will still see some awesome places even if it’s raining! We have yet to cancel a tour due to inclement weather, never happened!
How much money do I need on a tour?
It always depends a little on the tour itself, depending on the number of attractions visited.
On Daytrips normally you’ll always need to have lunch and that may depend on the restaurant selection which we will present you with the options, and for personal expenses, a souvenir, a snack or something.
Then, for the attractions that you plan on visiting or that are visited on the tour.
Nevertheless on most locations card payments are accepted unless for small amounts (lower than 5€).
What size of vehicle is used to transport passengers on a tour?
Our tours are made on high standard unidentified black (or dark) vehicles, normally Mercedes E Class for smaller groups or a V Class Minivan for larger (up to 7) groups. Comfort and privacy are always first.
Our tour guides / drivers
What does the driver / tour guide do on the tour?
Your tour guide is a multi-skilled, multi-tasker. From sharing their knowledge of Portugal to sharing local insights, they are much more than just a driver.
As experienced guides, they also have the flexibility to take the group to different stops depending on the mood of the day. Additionally, they can also suggest places to eat and drink in the evening.
In what languages are the tours offered?
Our tours are offered in four main languages. English, Spanish, Italian and naturally, Portuguese. Nevertheless we can accomodate special requests for other laguages (depending on availability and on the season).
