Your tour begins with a pick-up at your hotel in the Lisbon area. This private tour is provided mainly with the objective of showing the city of Coimbra and it's heritage, and depending on your options the nearby attractions. Nevertheless, this itinerary can be changed to best suit your preferences.
Option Coimbra and University World Heritage:
After leaving Lisbon, we should arrive in Coimbra after an approximately 2-hour drive. We will start by the University Grounds where you can visit the university and depending on the available schedules, the Joanina library, a 17th-century library that is unique in the world.
We will then have lunch in one of the central typical restaurants, after which we will cross the Mondego river to the south bank to visit St Claire's monastery, one of the most important monasteries in the center of Portugal and home to the relics of Isabel, the holy Queen.
Finally we will visit the Quinta das Lágrimas, home to the love story of Pedro and Inês, one of the most tragic and moving episodes of the Portuguese history.
If time allows or if you prefer we can also visit the Little Portugal, a small theme park that unites in one place all of the Portuguese culture and architecture in kid-sized houses.
Option Coimbra and Bussaco Palace and Park:
After leaving Lisbon, we should arrive in Coimbra after an approximately 2 hour drive. We will start by the center of the city with it's quaint small streets and commercial areas and also the church and monastery of Sta. Cruz where our two first kings are buried.
We will then have lunch in one of the central typical restaurants (or optionally we will drive closer to the Bussaco Park, where the famous roasted suckling pig is made), after which we will proceed to visit the Bussaco Park and Palace, a neo-classical palace and hotel, home of one of the most emblematic wine collections in the world and stage to some important events during the French Invasions in the 19th century.
If time allows we can still pass by Luso, home one of the largest and purest spring waters of Portugal.
Option Coimbra and Conímbriga:
After leaving Lisbon, we should arrive in Conímbriga after an approximately 2 hour drive. We will start by the visit to the roman ruins and the Roman Museum of Conímbriga which will take the better part of the morning.
We will start by the center of the city with it's quaint small streets and commercial areas and also the church and monastery of Sta. Cruz where our two first kings are buried.
We will then go to Coimbra and have lunch in one of the central typical restaurants and explore the center of the city with it's quaint small streets and commercial areas and also the church and monastery of Sta. Cruz where our two first kings are buried. If time allows we can still go to the university and visit the grounds.
On any of the options, we should return to Lisbon at approximately 6pm

48 hours or less before the tour (including Noshows): 100% Cancellation fee - No Refund
