Paiva River Walkways Full Day or 2 Day Private Tour 

Our tour begins preferably with the pick up at your Hotel, Apartment or Ship. This ensures enough time to enjoy our program, and avoid walking during the hotter hours of the day.

This private tour is provided mainly with the objective of taking you through the boardwalks of the Paiva river, built in the natural landscape, which go along the river for an extension of 8.7 kms. This is a high-difficulty walk and it's not advisable for children or people with mobility restrictions, since it's not a wheelchair or even a reduced mobility accessible attraction. In fact, to make the complete walk, you will have to climb and descend several flights of stairs, depending on the point of entry. This is a linear course with different points of entry and exit and there are several options to do the walk, all of which can be discussed with your guide on the day of the tour. The options are as follows:

Option 1: Do the complete walk downstream - High Difficulty Walk, requires good fitness levels (8.7 Kms)
Option 2: Do half the walk upstream and back (same entry and exit point) - Medium Difficulty walk (Approx 9 Kms)
Option 3: Do half the walk upstream and exit midpoint - Normal Difficulty walk (Approx 4.5 Kms)
Option 4: Do the complete walk upstream - Extreme Difficulty Walk, requires very good fitness levels (8.7 Kms)

We will start the day heading north to the Aveiro District where we will find the city of Arouca tucked in the mountains on the edge of the Aveiro and Viseu districts (approx trip time 3 Hrs). We will take you to the selected start point where we will meet the local guide that will take you through the boardwalk. 

After the walk, which should take around 3 hrs to complete, we will lunch in the area and depending on the option selection with or without a Night Stop we will either return back to Lisbon to arrive at approximately 18.00 hrs, or proceed with the rest of the tour in Arouca, Aveiro, Viseu or Porto.

As this is an attraction not near Lisbon, we offer the possibility of making a Night Stop in one nearby city, and the second day will be fullfilled with a tour in that city or in the nearby areas: 

Arouca/Aveiro - Visit Arouca or the Aveiro canals. Alternatively the possibility of visiting Coimbra.
Porto - City tour of Porto. Alternatively Guimarães or Braga.
Viseu - City tour of Viseu. Alternatively, visit the Douro Valley and Wine region.

If you choose one of these options, please inform us if you prefer to stay in a hotel or in a house and how many rooms will be needed, the total of people (with names and ages) that will come and the grade of the hotel you prefer so all arrangements can be made.

As the Paiva Boardwalk is a limited-capacity attraction, the booking cannot be confirmed immediately, but we will respond in one or two business days with all the details.

• Start and Finish times may be adjusted to your preference or to your Cruise schedule.

• Please note that all our prices are per trip and not per person, meaning that the price you see is what you pay for the whole group.
• Depending on the size of the group and car availability the tours are made on a high end sedan/estate (Mercedes E or equivalent) or on a high end van (Mercedes V or equivalent)

• All of our tours are normally made in English, but can also be made in Spanish, and of course, Portuguese. Just let us know if you require a different language than English when you book.

We hope that there will be no need for, but in the unfortunate event of a cancellation we will charge the following:

If cancelled more than 7 days before the tour: 0% Cancellation fee - Full Refund

Between 7 and 5 days before the tour: 25% Cancellation fee - 75% Refund

Between 4 and 2 days before the tour: 50% Cancellation fee - 50% Refund

48 hours or less before the tour (including Noshows): 100% Cancellation fee - No Refund
